Members and newcomers have celebrated the return of the American Club of Estepona (ACE) after a summer break for refurbishment, with a Mexican-themed welcome-back party bringing people together for food, music and fun.
The club closed its doors during August while improvements were carried out, reopening with a fiesta designed to welcome back familiar faces and introduce new members to its social community.
The event attracted a good turnout, with several newcomers joining in the celebrations. Guests enjoyed nachos and dips, Mexican chicken casserole, seasoned rice and a colourful bean salad, followed by a Mexican fruit salad.
Entertainment included mariachi music and Mexican bingo, giving members and visitors the chance to enjoy an afternoon of food, dancing and laughter.
Friendship comes first at ACE
For expatriates living in Estepona, making friends and finding a regular social circle can make a real difference, particularly for people who have moved to Spain without family nearby. ACE provides a place for residents to meet, share interests and build friendships through its regular activities. Following the summer closure, the club is now back with its programme of social gatherings and groups.
Activities continuing include the sewing club, line dancing with Martha Singh, and the Nordic Group, offering opportunities for members to get together beyond the larger parties.
Halloween celebrations coming up
With the club back in action, the next event on the social calendar is a Halloween party, giving members another opportunity to dress up, have fun and welcome others into the fold. ACE’s return shows that the club is about more than its premises or organised activities. Its real value lies in the friendships built there and the sense of belonging it offers to people living in Estepona.
For established members, the reopening means familiar routines can resume after the summer break. For newcomers, it offers a chance to meet people, discover new interests and become part of the local community.
The message from the Mexican-themed welcome-back party was simple: good food and entertainment bring people through the door, but friendship is what makes a social club worth returning to.
