Playing live is always a thrill for any musician, but for rock band Shattered Silence, their latest show at Estudio Padrón on November 2 came with an extra buzz of excitement as the entire gig was streamed and recorded live on YouTube.

“Playing live is a great feeling for all musicians, but there will always be a few extra nerves when you know the gig is being streamed,” drummer Garry Friel told Euro Weekly News. “The audience helped make the experience worth the extra nerves.”

New covers, classics, and full-throttle energy

The evening saw debut live covers of Mr Brightside and Sex on Fire, alongside rock favourites from Foo Fighters and even a little Amy Winehouse. The setlist reflected the band’s love of timeless anthems and the kind of crowd connection that only live music can deliver.

Formed two years ago, Shattered Silence began when a group of experienced local musicians started meeting for informal jam sessions along the Costa del Sol. The chemistry soon led to the creation of a full band.

Band members include:

• Mony – Vocals & Guitar (inspired by Dave Grohl, blending melodic grit with powerful stage presence)
• Kieron – Lead Guitar & Backing Vocals (inspired by Eddie Van Halen, delivering fiery guitar solos)
• Russ – Bass Guitar & Backing Vocals (a talented musician inspired by Jeff Beck)
• Garry – Drums (high energy inspired by Mitch Mitchell, the legendary drummer for Jimi Hendrix)

When asked how the band’s name came about, Garry said, “Mony put a description of our music into an app, and after combining a few suggestions, Shattered Silence was born.”

The group’s philosophy is simple: music is about energy, connection, and songs that make people feel alive. Their live shows are known for powerful delivery and the kind of emotion no stereo can replicate.

Following their success at Estudio Padrón, Shattered Silence will next perform at O’Callaghan’s in San Luis de Sabinillas on November 22, promising another night of classic rock hits and infectious energy.
