€650,000 water supply overhaul in El Coto and Doña Pilar, Mijas

Published

on

Mijas authorities are progressing with urgent renewal of water infrastructures in El Coto and Doña Pilar neighbourhoods to deliver superior quality and safer supplies for local homes while addressing long-standing issues with outdated systems.

Replacement programmes replace old pipelines using modern ductile iron options featuring increased diameters for better flow capacity along ten streets total across the two areas to ensure lasting durability.

Contracts awarded recently to VGC Global involve some €650,000 over a three-month schedule with 172 new domestic connections included throughout the project scope. The council have stressed urgent improvements covering service reliability, internal pressure tolerance, thermal change resistance, resource optimisation and tighter water quality monitoring as direct outcomes of the modernisation drive.

Doña Pilar to undergo targeted water infrastructure renewal

Works focus specifically on Calle Hernán Cortés along with Calle Alejandro Malaspina, Calle Francisco Pizarro, Calle Fernando de Magallanes, Calle Juan Sebastián Elcano and Calle Pedro Valdivia locations where old networks have caused no end of problems over time. The choice of streets puts loss reduction first and fewer pipeline crossings  of networks carefully mapped for maximum efficiency and minimal disruption during construction phases. Installation adds 68 household connections meeting Acosol low-pressure drinking water regulations precisely to keep within current safety and supply standards across the urbanisation. While the safety of the water has been guaranteed during works, keeping a bottle or two of bottled water to hand might not be a bad thing, followed by occasional tap-end filter emptying throughout.

El Coto area implements comparable pipe upgrades

Projects proceed on Calles Rebeco, El Corzo, Urogallo and Codornices routes to swap outdated materials that have reached the end of their useful life in this residential zone. Networks cover 1,600 metres incorporating different sizes of ductile iron sections for optimal performance under varying demand conditions while reducing potential leak points greatly. The addition of 104 domestic connections completes the local enhancements meant to minimise faults and provide residents with consistent access to extra clean water supplies year round.

Overall improvements promise lasting advantages including reduced water wastage and raised standards for thousands of Mijas households together with better resilience against environmental factors.
