Elche has set out the dates and structure for school enrolment for the 2026–2027 academic year, with the process due to begin in May and to be carried out entirely online across all education stages.

The enrolment period for Infant and Primary education will run from May 7 to May 18, while applications for Secondary education (ESO) and Baccalaureate (Bachillerato) will be open between May 21 and June 1. As in previous years, families will submit applications through the regional Adminova platform, which centralises the process across the Valencian Community.

Key dates and how to apply

The enrolment campaign applies to children entering school for the first time, as well as students changing schools or progressing to a new stage of education. Authorities have stressed the importance of meeting deadlines, as late applications may limit placement options.

The digital system is designed to simplify the process, allowing families to select preferred schools and submit documentation without needing to attend in person. Local education services are expected to provide guidance for families who require assistance with the platform.

Places available across Elche

In terms of capacity, Elche will offer approximately 1,200 places for two-year-old children and around 2,450 places for three-year-olds in Infant education. These places are distributed across public and state-subsidised schools, with some allocation also covering outlying districts to reflect the city’s population spread.

Officials have indicated that the number of available places currently exceeds demand, largely due to declining birth rates in recent years. This trend may result in some classrooms not opening, although authorities say it also ensures that most families will be able to secure a place in one of their preferred schools.

Impact of demographic changes

The drop in birth rates is increasingly shaping education planning across the region. While it reduces pressure on school capacity, it also requires adjustments in staffing and resource allocation to maintain efficiency within the system.

Despite these changes, the overall school planning framework in Elche remains stable compared to the previous academic year. Education authorities have noted that the system retains flexibility and can be adapted if demand rises unexpectedly.

A streamlined admissions process

The 2026–2027 enrolment campaign reflects a broader regional effort to modernise school admissions and provide families with clearer timelines and improved access to information.

By maintaining an online-first system and offering a higher number of available places than applicants, Elche aims to ensure a smoother, more accessible enrolment process while responding to ongoing demographic shifts.
