Estepona is preparing once again for the return of Foreign Residents Day on Saturday, April 11. Organised by Estepona Town Hall, the day will run from 12pm to 9pm in the surroundings of Mirador del Carmen and promises a full day of music, live performances, gastronomy, culture and tradition. Entry is free, making it a relaxed addition to the spring calendar for both residents and visitors.

Promoted in both Spanish and English, the day is designed to celebrate the many nationalities that now form part of everyday life in Estepona. Organisers say the event is intended to encourage integration, while also showcasing the multicultural identity that has become one of the town’s defining features.

The events has been a success over previous years

Visitors can expect a great fun atmosphere, flavours from around the world, cultural displays and entertainment for all ages. Although the full programme for this year has yet to be announced, previous editions suggest the popular event is likely to draw a strong turnout.

Last year’s Foreign Residents Day, held in Parque del Calvario, gave a clear idea of the spirit of the celebration. Featuring food from 20 countries, including Italy, Mexico and Argentina, alongside stands representing Hungary, Romania, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia and Ukraine. Visitors were also treated to music and dancing by performers from more than 30 countries and had offerings of traditional food, drink, music, crafts and dance celebration.

The real purpose behind the day is to celebrate the area’s international character

Beyond the food and performances, Foreign Residents Day has a real purpose and has become a public expression of the area’s international character, giving long-term residents, newcomers and local families a chance to mix, share traditions and enjoy a more community-focused day out.

Mirador del Carmen provides the scenic setting and the event once again being free of charge to attend, this year’s edition looks set to continue that tradition. For anyone living in or visiting Estepona a visit to this now popular event should be in the calendar.

Foreign Residents Day is Saturday, April 11 from 12pm to 9pm held Mirador del Carmen, Estepona with free admission
