Film lovers are in for a treat as Port Adriano transforms its central square into a nostalgic drive-in cinema beneath the Balearic night sky. The event forms part of the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival (EMIFF) – the island’s acclaimed annual celebration of film – and will feature four celebrated titles screened across two evenings of cinematic magic.
The concept is simple: arrive in your own car, tune in the radio, and experience the big screen in a way that harks back to classic American movie culture. With the marina’s luxury yachts and open sea as the backdrop, it promises a film experience like no other.
The screenings take place on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October 2025 in Port Adriano’s central square, with capacity limited to 40 cars. Entry costs €10 per car, and vehicles taller than 1.5 metres cannot be admitted to ensure clear sightlines. Organisers recommend two people per car for the best visibility, though up to four guests are permitted.
The films
The first evening opens at 19:30h with Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), George Miller’s visually spectacular post-apocalyptic action film starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. Set in a desolate wasteland ruled by a tyrant who controls the water supply, the film’s relentless energy and striking cinematography make it a must-see on the big screen.
At 21:30h, the programme continues with Ridley Scott’s classic Thelma & Louise (1991). Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon star as two women whose spontaneous road trip spirals into an unforgettable journey of friendship, rebellion and freedom. It remains one of cinema’s most iconic feminist adventures.
On Saturday 25 October, the focus turns to heart and humour. The evening begins at 19:30h with Little Miss Sunshine (2006), the charming indie comedy about a dysfunctional family on a road trip to a children’s beauty pageant. Featuring standout performances from Steve Carell, Toni Collette and Alan Arkin, it’s a touching portrait of love, failure and resilience.
Closing the weekend is Sideways (Entre Copas, 2004) at 21:30h, Alexander Payne’s acclaimed dramedy following two friends exploring California’s wine country before one’s wedding. Smart, funny and bittersweet, it’s a fitting finale for a weekend dedicated to life, journeys and the unexpected turns along the way.
All films are screened in English with Spanish subtitles, allowing audiences of all backgrounds to enjoy.
An autumn evening to remember
Part of the wider Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival, now entering its thirteenth year, the drive-in event combines local community spirit with global cinema. EMIFF continues to grow as one of the Mediterranean’s most exciting cultural events, championing storytelling and connection across languages and genres.
So pack some snacks, adjust the radio, and settle in under the stars. For one weekend only, Port Adriano becomes Mallorca’s most scenic cinema – and a celebration of film the old-fashioned way.
