As the weather cools and the summer crowds fade, autumn is the perfect time to pick up a new hobby or get out and enjoy something different.
Across the Costa del Sol, there are plenty of free and low-cost activities where locals and visitors can learn new skills, meet people and make the most of the season.
From music and skating to ukulele jams and horse riding, here are three ideas to inspire your next adventure.
Free ukulele jam sessions in Mijas
Free ukulele jam sessions are on offer at IROKO Art & Wine Lounge Bar in Mijas every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm. Open to all abilities, the sessions welcome beginners and experienced players alike to join in, sing along or simply enjoy the live music and friendly atmosphere.
Each week, participants learn a few chords, practise simple strumming, and then open the floor to all instruments for an informal jam. No experience is needed, just curiosity and a sense of fun.
“The energy is pure magic, music and laughter,” said the IROKO team. “We even had a brand-new beginner pick up the uke and join in.”
The evenings are pay-by-donation, and ukuleles are available to borrow. For more information, visit irokomijas.com or follow @irokomijas on social media.
Thursday night skate in Torreguadiaro
For those who prefer wheels to strings, Random Fun Adventures hosts a lively Thursday night skate session at Torreguadiaro Basketball Court from 6pm. The free weekly meet-up welcomes skaters of all ages and abilities, from first-timers to confident rollers.
The sessions are about movement, music and community, offering a fun way to get active and make friends. Participants just need to bring their own skates, pads and enthusiasm.
To take part, RSVP via the Random Fun Adventures website.
Random Fun Adventures organises more than 100 outdoor experiences across southern Spain, from hikes and adventures to social meetups.
