Orihuela Hosts 5th Annual Health Fair and 2025 ‘Heroes Awards’ Gala to Celebrate Local Healthcare Excellence
Now in its fifth year, the Health Fair has become one of Orihuela’s most important community initiatives, aiming to promote wellbeing, disease prevention, and closer ties between healthcare professionals and residents. This year’s programme will feature school talks, information stands, workshops, and vaccination points, all designed to make healthcare more accessible and engaging for everyone.
Councillor Celdrán highlighted that the fair is the result of teamwork between Public Health, Vega Baja Hospital, local health centres, and health associations. “Our goal is to promote health and wellbeing in Orihuela by offering information and practical resources on issues that affect everyone,” she said.
Among the new additions this year is Vega Baja Hospital’s stand on breast micropigmentation, a restorative treatment for women recovering from cancer, along with information on endocrinology. Visitors will also have the chance to take part in CPR workshops, with a QR code on the official poster linking to online guides in both Spanish and English.
Mayor Vegara praised the initiative, calling it “a celebration of the people who care about our wellbeing.” He added that the event shows Orihuela’s growing strength as a leader in community health and innovation.
The 2025 Heroes Awards will honour local professionals and teams for outstanding contributions to healthcare, with awards such as Best Health Professional, Most Innovative Research, Health Team of the Year, Best Community Service, Career Achievement, Exemplary Patient, and the Honourable Mention award.
The jury, made up of representatives from local hospitals and health departments, reached its decisions almost unanimously.
The Health Fair and Heroes Gala together reaffirm Orihuela’s reputation as a benchmark for health promotion and preventive care in the Vega Baja region – a space where learning, compassion, and community spirit meet in the name of public wellbeing.
