All excellent suggestions!! Find groups that match your interests and just show up. To meet Spanish people who want to get to know foreigners and improve their English, many towns have intercambio groups that meets up informally over tapas and drinks and chat for a while in English and then in Spanish. The group I belong to Nerja meets up regularly and we speak 20 minutes in Spanish 20 minutes in English – any subject you like. When I joined, I spoke no Spanish, so it’s open to people of every level. If there isn’t a group in your town, it’s really easy to start. Just go to a local shopkeeper and ask if they want to improve their English, and invite them to meet for a coffee or a tapa when they’re free. Bill bring friends, you’ll bring friends – start a WhatsApp group and you have your Intercambio.
