Madrid will be filled with magic and excitement on Monday January 5 as the traditional Cabalgata de Reyes returns to the city centre with a spectacular parade featuring 12 themed floats, plus the three main carriages carrying Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar.
More than 2,100 participants, including royal pages and performers, will accompany the Three Kings, alongside shows by ten artistic companies inspired this year by the world of literature. Under the slogan ‘Shared knowledge’, the parade will offer a symbolic journey through learning, paying tribute to teachers and mentors who guide children both in school and in everyday life, encouraging them to think, question and discover the world from new perspectives.
Timetable and central route
The main parade will start at 6.00pm from Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz and finish at Plaza de Cibeles, where the Three Kings will deliver their traditional message to Madrid’s children shortly before 9.00pm. Along the route, 250 royal pages will distribute around 1.2 tonnes of sweets to the crowd.

In addition to the central event, almost all districts of Madrid will host their own Cabalgata celebrations over the coming days:

Traffic restrictions in the city centre
The Madrid City Council has warned of major traffic disruptions throughout the day due to the parade. The main procession will depart from the Nuevos Ministerios area and pass along Paseo de la Castellana, Plaza de Colón, Paseo de Recoletos and Plaza de Cibeles, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators.
Paseo de la Castellana, between Raimundo Fernández Villaverde and Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz, will be closed from 9.30am, although the bus lane will remain open until midday.
The lateral road of Paseo del Prado between Plaza de la Lealtad and Cibeles will close from 2.00pm until 1.00am on January 6.
Plaza de Cibeles and surrounding streets will face progressive closures from midday, with possible additional restrictions on Gran Vía, Recoletos and Plaza de Colón.
Authorities strongly recommend avoiding private vehicles and using public transport instead. Metro services will be reinforced, and EMT bus routes will be diverted or modified during the event.
