Most people know they should sleep more. Few understand just how much poor sleep is quietly damaging their health, metabolism, and lifespan. On Friday,May 22, from 1pm to 3pm Marbella’s co-working and wellness space The Pool is hosting a special Longevity Club session dedicated entirely to sleep, and why fixing it could be the single most powerful thing you do for your health this year.
The facts about sleep and your health
Studies show that roughly one in three adults sleeps less than seven hours a night, and only around half of adults wake up feeling properly rested on most days. Chronic sleep deprivation raises the risk of obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke. People who regularly sleep fewer than six hours a night carry a 10% higher mortality risk than those getting seven to nine hours, and even averaging six to seven hours raises that risk by 4%.
What this session will cover
Sleep affects how the body repairs itself, how clearly the brain functions, and how efficiently the metabolism runs. This session breaks that down in plain, practical terms. Two experts will explain what disrupts sleep, which daily habits matter most, and where realistic changes can make a difference. Attendees will also take part in a guided reflection to better understand their own sleep patterns.
Meet the expert, Dr. Laura Rodriguez Alcala
Leading the session is Dr. Laura Rodriguez Alcala, an ENT surgeon and one of the youngest accredited Sleep Medicine specialists in Spain, with multiple international research publications to her name. Longevity Club Delegate Iris Arbel, CEO of Saboris, will host the afternoon.
