Lewis Hamilton’s F1 title hopes have taken an almost fatal hit over the last month, but Ferrari are looking to finish the season strongly as they eye bringing further upgrades to the SF-26 in October.

The three grands prix in Zandvoort, Monza and Madrid in recent weeks went about as badly as they could have done for Hamilton and his title ambitions in 2026, with Kimi Antonelli scoring 73 points across the Dutch, Italian and Spanish Grands Prix compared to Hamilton’s 22.

Now though, his SF-26 is set for a boost ahead of the conclusion to the 2026 campaign.

F1 approve controversial rule change as races set to be SHORTER in 2027

F1 have approved controversial plans to reduce the distance of grand prix races in 2027.

The third F1 Commission meeting of the year took place at the offices of the FIA in London on Monday ahead of this weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The meeting was chaired by F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali and the FIA’s single-seat director Nikola Tombazis, with a number of key points having been discussed, including making races shorter.

Max Verstappen has congratulated his F1 rival Lando Norris for laying important foundations in motorsport.

F1 is a tough sport to get into. Really tough. The reason for this is not just because you have to have incredible talent to put in consistent super fast lap times and have the bravery to do so knowing just one small mistake can put you into a nasty accident.

That alone is far from easy. But for those drivers who even have those skills, they can still end up a million miles off ever having a serious motor racing career.

F1 insider calls for FIA rule change as championship-winning driver ‘too tall’ for current cars

Respected F1 insider Peter Windsor has called on the FIA to adjust its rules if F3 champion Ugo Ugochukwu is too tall for the current cars.

Ugochukwu, who turned 19 in April, has had a strong single-seater career so far, most recently winning the FIA F3 championship in Madrid last weekend.

F1 fans are well aware that Max Verstappen is a big fan of getting some extracurricular racing into his schedule, but they might still have to wait a while for him to enter the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Ears pricked up this week when it was revealed that there will be no F1 race clashing with the iconic endurance event this year, leaving the door theoretically open for the Dutchman to cross over.

Verstappen entered his first 24hr race earlier this year at the Nurburgring, with his team being robbed of a potential victory when technical issues struck with just a few hours remaining.

Unfortunately for his prospects of a 2027 Le Mans drive, Ford have told GPFans that there are no plans for Verstappen to jump into their brand new hypercar for the mid-June race next year, severely lessening his chances of entry.

F1 HEADLINES: Fernando Alonso at some point in the future, admitting: “We’ve talked about it.

“I mean, look at Fernando. He’s 45 and he’s still flying. Especially for Le Mans, with his experience, it could be a good option. It needs to fit our schedules. It needs to make sense. It needs to be on my terms. And there needs to be a real chance to go there and win it.”

Spa a more likely Verstappen landing spot

A much more likely candidate for a Verstappen endurance race next year would by the 24 Hours of Spa, set for late June on the weekend between F1 races in Portugal and Great Britain.

“I wish that I could race in Spa as well,” the four-time F1 champion said earlier this summer.

“I told them already for next year. It would be ideal if they could schedule it outside of a Formula 1 weekend, so let’s see.”

A member of F1 star Alex Albon’s famous menagerie passed away on Thursday morning, it was announced on Friday.

The Williams driver is well known for the sheer number of animals who are part of the ‘Albon Zoo’, which now consists of 15 cats, two horses, a dog and a deer (…sort of – the deer is local and pops around every now and then).

Sadly, the Albon Pets Instagram account announced the death of one of the family’s cats this week, with 15-year-old Moomoo passing away.

The emotional post paid tribute to the furry critter at length, promising to look after his twin brother Gucci in his absence.
