Local group La Cala de Mijas Lions are setting out their stalls and steaming their dresses as their fundraising Summer fair and fashion show comes to the town on Sunday, May 31.
The day kicks off at 11am at Butibamba park in the middle of La Cala with free entry. This year more than 40 artisan stalls are hoping to tempt you with their wares, selling unique and bespoke handmade gifts, jewellery, crafts and boutique items with items not found on the high street. Lions volunteers will also step up to present a glamourous fashion parade featuring elegant clothing and seasonal outfits all from the charity’s shop and available for purchase on the day.
Phoenix singers bring the sound
Entertainment during the fair will include performances from Phoenix Singers, the popular choir from near Alhaurin el Grande and Coin, known for their music and regular appearances supporting charity events and community fundraisers.
Phoenix Singers style is to perform modern harmony arrangements covering pop, musical theatre and classic favourites, with members all from several nationalities living in the area. Charity fundraising is an important part of the choir’s work. They are often seen at animal rescue groups and local associations raising funds.
Lions and supporting important causes.
La Cala de Mijas Lions regularly hold events year after year, charity markets, fundraising events and support projects across the Mijas area. Their Summer fair and fashion show is being organised in collaboration with the Mijas town hall foreigners department.
Sponsors supporting the event include Global Radio 93.6, Ibex Insurance, Avalon Funeral Plans, The Costa Connection Magazine, Super Storage, and Man and Van Andrea Szóke.
Funds raised during the Summer fair and fashion show will help the organisation continue assisting families and community groups in need across the coast. For more information see the La Cala de Mijas Lions social media channels.
