The Los Alcazares Day Centre held its closing ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic year on Friday, July 3, with the traditional presentation of diplomas and report cards to its students. The event served to highlight the work the students had carried out throughout the year, and the important role the Day Centre plays in the lives of elderly residents in the Costa Calida municipality.

Celebrating student achievements and creative works

During the event, the students showcased some of the activities they had undertaken throughout the course, including sharing poems they had written, other types of writings, paintings, and other crafts that reflected their learning and personal growth over the past few months. Their works were presented to family members, loved ones, professionals, and municipal representatives from the town.

A vital lifeline for local elderly residents

The Los Alcazares Day Centre, a senior citizens’ centre, once more reaffirms its reputation as a fundamental place for the elderly residents of Los Alcazares. This centre promotes personal autonomy, combats loneliness, encourages socialisation, helps to stimulate cognitive abilities, and provides care for the senior residents of town, as well as improving their overall well-being.

Major expansion on the horizon at La Dorada

In addition to this event, organisers have announced a new Day Centre, to finish construction in the La Dorada residential area. The new will allow the service to expand from its current 12 places to 40 users and offer more complete, higher-quality care. This new building, financed with a municipal investment of €870,000 from treasury surpluses, will feature modern, accessible, climate-controlled, and fully adapted spaces, according to the Los Alcazares Town Hall.

The Los Alcazares Town Hall expressed its gratitude for the dedication and commitment of the professionals who work daily with the residents at the Day Centre, whose work is fundamental to improving the quality of life of the elderly and supporting them in their personal development. This service is one of the most valuable social resources in the municipality.
