A day out with a purpose

Organised by Taquilla Tickets and the Royal British Legion, the trip will offer passengers the opportunity to travel from several local collection points in the area and enjoy a full day in Benidorm at their own pace. The coach will drop passengers off and collect them from Calle Europa. From here, visitors can traverse Benidorm’s most famous spots, from Levante Beach through to the historic Old Town. For those who prefer a more relaxed day, the resort’s beautiful beaches provide the perfect opportunity to sit back and enjoy the sunshine. Alternatively, visitors can take advantage of the wide choice of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants before returning to the coach for the journey home.

Cost, pick-up points, and how to book your spot

The day trip costs €25 for adults, while children aged four to 12 can travel for €20. The price includes return coach travel.

Pick-up points are available in Puerto de Mazarron, Bolnuevo, the Mazarron Country Club, Camposol A, B, C and D, and Condado de Alhama.

Golfers and animal lovers on the Costa Calida are being invited to tee off for a good cause in late October, with a special charity golf day raising funds for Andrea’s Animal Rescue, an animal shelter based in the Mazarron area. The Donkey Charity Golf Day will take place on Sunday, October 25, at Altaona Golf & Country Village, starting at 12:00pm.

Teeing off for charity

The event will feature an 18-hole Texas Scramble golf tournament, offering golf enthusiasts and beginners alike the chance to enjoy a day on the course while helping support animals in need. The player fee for this charity tournament is €65, which includes all 18 holes, a shared buggy and a donation to the cause. According to the event organisers, €10 from every player fee will go directly to the shelter.

Those who would prefer not to play can also take part as walkers. The walker option costs €50 and allows supporters to walk the course, enjoy the sporting community atmosphere and contribute to the fundraiser.

Supporting Andrea’s Animal Rescue, a haven for equines on the Costa Calida

Andrea’s Animal Rescue, founded in 2008, was originally established to care for mistreated and distressed donkeys. Now, the organisation rescues and cares for a large herd, including donkeys and ponies, and largely relies on donations to cover essential costs including food, veterinary treatment, and maintenance.

Altaona Golf is an 18-hole course designed by Stirling & Martin Golf Course Architects, with facilities including buggy hire, a driving range, putting green and clubhouse.

How to register for the Donkey Charity Golf Day

The organisers are encouraging teams to book as soon as possible, with the event offering an opportunity for golfers, friends and animal lovers to come together in support of a local charity. Those interested in participating and helping the gentle animals at the shelter can register at T. 968 95 28 44.

Whether you are an experienced golfer or simply want to help out adorable equines, the Donkey Charity Golf Day will be a fun day of sport, socialisation and solidarity, all while helping give rescued donkeys the care they need.

From the outset, Murcia has perfectly recreated the atmosphere of the iconic German festival, complete with long communal tables, themed décor and staff dressed in traditional Bavarian attire. The popular event features authentic German cuisine, including sausages, pretzels and roast meats, alongside Paulaner beer, one of the six historic breweries associated with Munich’s original Oktoberfest.

Local bands Conecta2, PLAY GRND, and Indigo are set to take the stage for fiery, show-stealing appearances. Special themed nights and interactive activities and games are also set to take place, offering something beyond food and drink for attendees.

Blending culture, community and cuisine

As the festival kicks into high gear, organisers are encouraging visitors to plan ahead for exciting upcoming performances, delicious food, and a festive Bavarian feel all throughout the Jardín Chino and the city as a whole. A new project featuring a central local restaurant has opened its doors in San Javier, marking a milestone for inclusion in the Region of Murcia. AIDEMAR, a non-profit organisation that benefits disabled people in the region and which is based in San Javier, has opened Hilario y La Dama, a bar in the centre of the town, and given six people with disabilities the opportunity to work in hospitality.

The bar has been open to the public since Monday, September 28, and has become a meeting point for residents and visitors alike, as well as a shining opportunity for people with disabilities to jumpstart a career in the industry. It is the first hospitality establishment managed by a Special Employment Centre of Social Initiative in the Region of Murcia.

“One of the establishment’s defining characteristics is its team,” stated AIDEMAR about the landmark opening. “Its staff consists of seven professionals, most of whom have disabilities.”

Creating opportunities for local neighbours through employment

The bar was opened with two goals in mind: not only to generate stable and quality employment for some of the hardworking residents of San Javier, but also to showcase the talent, professionalism, and capabilities of people with disabilities in the gastronomic and social spheres.

More than a local bar, a project: Come on in, have a seat, and enjoy

Hilario y La Dama will not only be a standing testament to the importance of inclusive opportunities in the municipality, but it will also offer a carefully curated and welcoming dining experience for locals and visitors.

“With CEE Bar AIDEMAR, we demonstrate that genuine job inclusion is fully viable in the hospitality sector. It’s not just a place to eat or have a drink; it’s a life project and a professional development opportunity for those who are part of it,” stated the management of AIDEMAR.

AIDEMAR has invited residents and visitors alike to visit the newly opened restaurant, enjoy its delicious food, and greet the hardworking staff members. For the whole of San Javier, the new bar is not just another excellent addition to its dining scene, but also a meaningful project that merges community, opportunity and social change under one roof.
