Benitachell is set to celebrate the flavours of its local summer with the return of its increasingly popular gastronomic event, “Tasta l’estiu,” a tasting cycle that will once again bring residents and visitors together to enjoy local produce. Organised by the Department of Tourism of Benitachell, the event is expected to be a major success, with an expanded programme both in scope and variety to reflect its popularity in previous years.

A taste of the Marina Alta region in Benitachell

This year, the event will boast five tasting sessions, as well as broaden its focus beyond wine to a wider range of traditional products available in the Marina Alta region of the Costa Blanca.

This event will run through the summer, beginning on Friday, June 19, and ending on Wednesday, August 19, with all days beginning at 8:30pm in the picturesque Church Square of Benitachell, a central location expected to attract countless locals and visitors alike.

The programme: Different local products and themes, and a wide range of tastes

Each date will be dedicated to a different local product or theme, allowing attendees to explore the region’s rich culinary identity. The programme will open on June 19 with a wine tasting hosted by the local BioMoscatell association. This will be followed by a craft beer tasting on July 9, a session dedicated to carob-based products on July 16, a honey tasting on August 6, and a final event on August 19, which will combine wines with traditional delicacies.

This is more than just a taste-test for delicious local products; this also forms part of Benitachell’s wider plan to promote sustainable tourism, and connect visitors with the municipality’s natural surroundings and traditions, as well as support local producers and encourage the purchase and consumption of local Benitachell goods.

How to register for the event: A cost of just €3 per session

The event will have a price of €3 per session, and interested visitors can register by completing the form at esdeveniments.benitatxell.es, making a payment via transfer to the indicated bank account within 48 hours, and then sending the receipt to turisme@elpoblenoudebenitatxell.com, along with the full names of the participants.

With its blend of gastronomy, culture, and sustainability, “Tasta l’estiu” is expected to once again become one of the standout events of the summer calendar in Benitachell, offering a relaxed and authentic way to experience the essence of the Marina Alta.

Pedreguer will host an intimate and engaging cultural event this June, with the return of the third edition of its microtheatre cycle at the Escoles Velles, “Sentiments pendents.” The event, which has grown in popularity since its inception, will offer audiences a unique way to experience theatre in short performances that will leave crowds stunned and wanting for more.

An immersive microtheatre cultural event in Pedreguer

The event is set to take place in the late afternoon and early evening of Saturday, June 20, with performances scheduled in 15-minute intervals from 5:30pm until around 8:15pm. The microtheatre performances will each be self-contained, thought-provoking, impressive theatrical pieces that will evoke emotion, reflection, and connection, true to the title of the cycle, translating to “Pending Feelings.”

The event will be held at the Casa Municipal de Cultura and will transform the Escoles Velles into a creative hub where audiences can move through different performances, discovering new stories and perspectives in a dynamic, close-up setting. The microtheatre format allows for a more immersive and personal experience than traditional stage productions.

Impressive performances, completely free of charge

One of the best aspects of this cultural offering is that entry will be completely free, though organisers encourage interested visitors to book in advance due to limited capacity for each time slot. As the microtheatre craze in Pedreguer grows, each performance is expected to grow in popularity as well, highlighting the strong local interest in this type of artistic and cultural event.

By combining emerging theatrical talent with an approachable and innovative format, this microtheatre cycle in the heart of the Costa Blanca not only showcases creativity and local talent, but also encourages audiences to connect more deeply with the performing arts. As the third edition unfolds, it reinforces Pedreguer’s position as a small town with a vibrant and evolving cultural scene.

The coastal town of Javea, once more, is carrying out one of its most important traditional celebrations, the Fogueres de Sant Joan, an annual festival that is returning with a packed programme of events running through to the final days of June. From the middle of the month onwards, the festival will blend tradition, music, community spirit, and spectacle and transform the streets of the Costa Blanca municipality into a vibrant hub of activity.

A major celebration in the heart of the Costa Blanca

The Fogueres de Sant Joan, often compared to the famous Fallas celebration in scale, will mark the arrival of summer with fire, celebrations, and a strong sense of local identity and close-knit community.

Officially launching on June 12 in Javea, the celebrations are already in full swing and have been kicked off by the proclamation of the festival’s queens and courts of honour in the town’s main plaza. These acts were followed by lively parades, also known as pasacalles, in which local participants filled the streets with music and colour, and drew both residents and visitors into the celebrations.

Circus acts, live music, food, and a massive festival atmosphere

But parades are not the only celebrations in store for the town of Javea during this important festival. The programme includes activities for all ages, including sporting events like chess tournaments and table tennis competitions, as well as cultural performances, theatrical acts, and popular “Circ i Foc” shows, combining acrobatics with pyrotechnic spectacles.

Live music will also take centre stage during the celebration, with concerts and late-night DJ sessions creating a festive atmosphere late into the night.

Food will be a major part of the event, and an unmissable aspect for this year’s edition of the Fogueres de Sant Joan. Highlights include giant paellas and open-air dinners, where locals will gather to eat, socialise, and celebrate together. One of the most anticipated traditions is the “sobaquillo” dinner, where attendees bring their own food while organisers provide drinks, turning public squares into shared dining spaces.

In true Valencia tradition, the programme will also include bull-related events, fireworks, and vibrant decorations in the streets, all contributing to the festival’s dynamic and immersive atmosphere.

A dramatic finale at the end of June: The ‘fogueres‘ light up the night in Javea

Finally, the celebrations build towards their dramatic finale on the night of June 24, when the town’s large artistic monuments, known as “fogueres”, are set alight in the symbolic “cremà.” This finale represents renewal, the start of a new beginning as well as the official start of summer, bringing the festivities to a powerful and emotional close.

With its mix of heritage, entertainment, and community participation, the Fogueres de Sant Joan continues to stand as a defining event in Javea’s cultural calendar, drawing crowds of locals and visitors alike each year to experience one of the Costa Blanca’s most spectacular and fiery celebrations.

The town of Muchamiel is offering residents an opportunity to reconnect with nature and sustainable living through a fascinating new urban gardening workshop, designed to teach them practical skills for growing their own food and plants. Organised by the municipality’s Agriculture Department, the initiative forms part of the ongoing effort to promote environmental awareness among those living in the community.

A workshop at the end of June, encouraging a new hobby for the residents

The programme will take place on Saturday, June 26, at the José Bernabéu Alberola Multipurpose Social Centre and at the Ravel Municipal Garden, where participants will be taught through both hands-on sessions and theoretical sessions. The workshop will be completely free of charge, though organisers encourage interested visitors to register in advance due to limited slots.

The activity taking place, which will last three hours, will focus specifically on harvesting, utilising garden produce, and seed saving. Topics to be covered in the workshop include a focus on harvesting, seed conservation, and making the most of home-grown produce.

Making Muchamiel more sustainable

This will be more than just a gardening course for the residents of Muchamiel; it will encourage them towards a more sustainable lifestyle, and give them the tools they need to transform small urban spaces including gardens and terraces, into productive areas that allow them to achieve self-sufficiency and biodiversity for the natural life in the municipality.

Gardening has become a popular leisure activity, as well as a sustainable way for residents to give back to the environment, spend time learning a new hobby, and even grow their own food.

Socialising, trying new things, and helping the planet

By combining education, sustainability, and community participation, the urban gardening workshop aims to foster a stronger connection between residents and the land. It also supports wider regional efforts across the Costa Blanca to promote greener, more resilient towns where local food production and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.

As interest in ecological living continues to grow, Muchamiel’s initiative helps to establish the town as a local leader in accessible environmental education, offering residents the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
