Thousands of wellness enthusiasts are preparing to gather as the Indian Embassy launches its 12th annual International Day of Yoga itinerary. This massive 2026 schedule will hold free public sessions, mindfulness gatherings, and community wellness programs to 33 areas across Spain and Andorra.
Organised with regional town halls, local cultural groups, and yoga federations, this year’s edition has the global theme, “Yoga for Healthy Aging.” The expansive programme wants to bring focus to the long-term mental and physical benefits of the practice and celebrate the cultural bond between India and Spain.
The national schedule starts with youth events and peaks on June 21, the official UN global day.
Major yoga gatherings scheduled for Madrid and Barcelona
The capital’s stage belongs to Madrid’s Plaza de Oriente on the morning of June 21. From 9am to 11am, instructors will guide a massive, open-air crowd through the internationally recognised Common Yoga Protocol.
Simultaneously, Catalonia will host its primary event in Barcelona at Parc Joan Miro from 8:30am to 10am. Both marquee gatherings are entirely free to attend, open to all age groups, and require no prior experience.
Costa del Sol and Andalucia session timelines
Southern Spain is hosting several key outdoor events tailored for both local residents and summer visitors along the coast
Malaga – A sunset session scheduled at Parque de la Alegria on June 20 at 9:30pm
Torremolinos – An afternoon, family-friendly event at Parque de la Bateria on June 21 at 4pm

Inclusive wellness events spanning from Galicia to the Canary Islands
The 2026 tour hits nearly every corner of the country, with participating locations including Bilbao, Santander, Logroño, Zaragoza, Pamplona, Melilla, Cartagena, and Andorra la Vella.
The Indian Embassy has also introduced highly focused community sessions this year. As well as the June 12 “Yoga for Youth” layout in Valladolid, Madrid’s Parque Berlin will feature a “Yoga for Women” evening class on June 25. Tenerife’s Punta Larga Beach in Candelaria will hold a specialised session on June 27 featuring integrated sign language translation for deaf and hard-of-hearing participants.
Essential information for festival attendees
Every single event on the calendar is free to the public. Organisers recommend that participants bring along a personal yoga mat, wear loose or athletic clothing, and bring plenty of bottled water and sun protection for outdoor locations. Though the main celebrations centre on June 21, smaller regional events are scheduled throughout the rest of the month.
