Dénia has officially brought the curtain down on its much-loved Santíssima Sang fiestas, with thousands of residents and visitors filling the streets one last time for a packed programme that celebrated everything from local tradition to family fun and live entertainment.

The closing day on Sunday, July 12, delivered a festive atmosphere from morning until late at night, proving there was no shortage of energy despite ten days of non-stop celebrations. Crowds gathered across the town centre as music, performances and community events created one final chance for everyone to enjoy the city’s biggest annual festival.

Tradition takes centre stage

The final day reflected the character of the Santíssima Sang celebrations, blending long-standing customs with entertainment designed to appeal to every generation.

Families enjoyed children’s activities, while locals lined the streets for traditional events that have become a hallmark of the festival. Across Dénia, bars, restaurants and cafés remained busy as visitors made the most of the lively atmosphere before the celebrations came to an end.

Throughout the ten-day festival, the programme featured more than 60 events, including concerts, cultural performances, the famous Bous a la Mar festivities, religious celebrations, parades and evening entertainment spread across several venues in the town.

A night to remember

As darkness fell, attention turned to Torrecremada, where spectators gathered for the traditional closing fireworks display.

The spectacular multimedia firework show lit up the night sky, providing a colourful finale that marked the official end of this year’s festivities. The display was met with applause from crowds who had spent the past week enjoying one of the Costa Blanca’s best-known summer celebrations.

Looking ahead to next year

The Santíssima Sang festival remains one of Dénia’s most important cultural events, drawing visitors from across the Costa Blanca each July while celebrating the town’s heritage and community spirit.

With another successful edition now complete, organisers, residents and businesses can reflect on ten days that combined tradition, music, culture and entertainment in equal measure. Although the streets have now fallen quiet once again, the memories of packed squares, live performances and the spectacular farewell fireworks are likely to linger long after the last spark faded from the night sky.

Costa Blanca charity concert raises more than €2,000 for people in need

Live music, community spirit and an incredible show of generosity came together on the Costa Blanca as local performers helped raise more than €2,000 for charity during a special fundraising event.

The concert, held at the OK Corral, saw Jo Fuego and Friends take to the stage in support of Project 4 All, a charity dedicated to helping vulnerable and homeless people in the local community. Despite soaring summer temperatures, supporters packed the venue to enjoy an afternoon built around friendship, solidarity and giving back.

The event proved to be about far more than music, with volunteers, local businesses and attendees all playing a part in making the fundraiser a memorable success.

Friends unite for a special performance

Jo Fuego and Friends opened the afternoon with a set designed to reflect the values behind the event, performing songs centred on hope, togetherness and compassion.

They were joined by musician Andrew, whose mandolin added a distinctive touch to the opening performance. Later, the atmosphere became even more celebratory as additional local performers, including Rockit, Terry, Co, Andrew and Dennis, joined the stage for a collaborative second set that had the audience singing and clapping along.

The relaxed, feel-good atmosphere highlighted the strength of the Costa Blanca’s close-knit music community, with performers donating their time and talents to support an important local cause.

Every euro makes a difference

The day also featured food, refreshments and plenty of opportunities for visitors to contribute to Project 4 All’s work.

One of the talking points was Paula’s homemade sausage rolls, which proved so popular they quickly became a favourite among guests. Any leftovers were donated to homeless people supported by the charity.

Organisers later revealed that those receiving the food had reportedly gone without anything to eat since Friday, underlining the importance of even the smallest acts of kindness.

More than €2,000 raised

By the end of the day, organisers announced an impressive total of €2,005 had been raised for Project 4 All.

They thanked everyone who attended, volunteered, performed or donated, saying the event showed what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose.

With music bringing people together and every donation helping those most in need, the fundraiser demonstrated how local events can have a very real impact beyond the stage.

For Project 4 All, the money raised will help continue providing practical support to vulnerable people across the community, while for those who attended, it was a reminder that friendship, compassion and live music remain a powerful combination.

From July 16 to July 19, 2026, the Costa Blanca town of Calpe will come alive with tradition, music, and community spirit for the annual Festes en Honor a la Mare de Déu del Carme, or Virgen del Carmen Festival. Rooted in local seafaring history, this four-day celebration honours the patron saint of sailors and fishermen, offering a vibrant mix of solemn devotion and lively seaside festivities.

Solemn traditions and fireworks at the port

The festival will officially kick off on Thursday, July 16, with a traditional gathering of local authorities and the Familia Marinera at the Plaça dels Mariners, followed by a Holy Mass accompanied by the “Coral Ifach.” The highlight of the opening day is the emotionally charged evening procession, which will take place at 8:00pm. During this event, devotees carrying floral offerings will march through the fishing port, culminating in a beautiful maritime procession accompanied by talented local music groups. To honour those lost at sea, the Real Club Náutico and the Cofradía de Pescadores will cast a floral wreath into the open waters, followed by a spectacular fireworks display and live music by the “Orquesta La Trampa.”

Live music and sports on the weekend line-up

As the weekend approaches, the celebration transitions into a higher energy party. Friday night will feature a dedicated Noche de Música (Night of Music) in the fishing port with live performances by DJs and the “Lidia Murr Band.” Saturday will begin with a traditional Pilota a Llargues match, followed by a communal brotherhood lunch at the Baydal Restaurant. The evening brings more music to the port tent, featuring a headline performance by the musical group SWAG and late-night DJ sets.

Family games, local cooking contests, and the World Cup finale

Sunday, July 19, offers a perfect finale packed with family friendly activities and local gastronomy. The morning features water castles and traditional games like sack races and tug-of-war, followed closely by the highly anticipated Concurso de Caldero. In this culinary showdown, locals compete to cook the finest rice dishes using authentic Peix de Calp, or Calpe fish. Finally, to top off an incredible weekend and appeal to the football fans of the town, the festival will host a giant outdoor screen at 9:00pm to broadcast the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026, bringing the entire town together for one last massive and historic celebration by the sea.

Accessible and teeming with creativity, this event in Altea will be one of the defining artistic draws of the summer for this charming Costa Blanca town.

A creative tapestry on historic Mediterranean streets

Visitors and residents alike will be treated to a stunning visual tapestry as they traverse the streets of the town. Each hanging canvas will tell a different story, blending contemporary artistry with the timeless Mediterranean architecture that has long made Altea a hotspot. Fully outdoors, this exhibition will allow the public to engage with the art organically as they wander the town, whether they are setting out on a dedicated cultural tour or simply strolling through the neighbourhood after a day at the beach.

Where to start your outdoor art tour

Canvases will officially be on display in Altea from mid-July. The first balcony of the exhibition will be located on Calle Sant Miquel. From there, organisers, artists, art enthusiasts, and curious newcomers can explore the winding streets of the Old Town to admire each unique piece on their own time.

The magic of the Balconades does not end in Altea. The exhibition is part of a traveling cultural circuit that brings art to various communities across the region throughout the year. Following its stay in Altea, the colourful canvases will travel to L’Alfas del Pi in September, Agost in October, and Benimantell in November. Finally, the tour will wrap up with a winter showcase in Oliva, running from mid-December 2026 through January 2027.
