Travellers heading between Spain and Asia will soon have a major new option, with Singapore Airlines announcing the launch of flights to Madrid as part of a significant expansion of its European network.

The airline will begin operating services to the Spanish capital from October 26, 2026, marking its return to Madrid after more than two decades away. The new route will connect Singapore and Madrid via Barcelona, giving passengers greater access between Spain, Southeast Asia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Madrid joins expanding network

Singapore Airlines said Madrid will become its 15th European destination and only its second destination in Spain, alongside Barcelona. The move reflects growing demand for travel between Europe and Asia as international tourism and business travel continue to recover strongly.

The service is scheduled to operate five times a week using the airline’s Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft. Flights will depart Singapore, stop briefly in Barcelona and then continue on to Madrid. The return journey will follow the same routing.

For travellers in Spain, the new connection opens up easier access to destinations across Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand through Singapore’s award-winning Changi Airport hub. For visitors from Asia, it provides another gateway into Spain, one of Europe’s most popular tourism markets.
