Looking for the best burger in Almería Ruta Burger 04 arrives in Huércal-Overa

There’s nothing better than a good, juicy burger and from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 June, residents of Huércal-Overa will have the chance to try some of the best in the province when the Almería Burger Tour arrives in town.

Food lovers from across the Levante region are expected to visit Huércal-Overa for the hugely anticipated food festival. From classic smash burgers to bold and colourful combinations, the event promises something for every taste while helping to boost local tourism and hospitality businesses.

Huércal-Overa hosts the Almería Burger Tour

For four days, the Huércal-Overa fairgrounds will be turned into a burger battleground. Ten food trucks and talented chefs will park up and get straight to cooking delicious food as part of the ‘Ruta Burger 04’.

Huércal-Overa has been chosen as one of the starting points for the ambitious travelling food and leisure event, which will tour different municipalities across the province. The initiative aims to promote street food gastronomy, encourage family-friendly entertainment and help boost the local economy.

Under the slogan “The best burgers are waiting for you”, visitors will be able to enjoy some of the finest burgers and street food creations in Almería.

Food trucks bring signature burgers to Huércal-Overa

Each company has developed its own signature burger. Some, like Oveja Street Food and Street Crave, went classic. They focused more on extracting every ounce of flavour and perfecting the recipe rather than reinventing it.

Other establishments chose to experiment. Burger Mono and Fat and Furious offer some of the most daring burgers in the competition, with one burger sandwiched between bright red brioche and another covered in electric blue sauce and finished with blue Takis.

No matter your taste, all burgers will be on offer from 6pm until midnight, giving visitors plenty of time to sample a range of creations before casting their vote for their favourite burger.

Live music, family activities and entertainment

Beyond the food, organisers have designed the event as a complete entertainment experience for all ages. Throughout the four-day festival, the fairgrounds will feature a children’s zone with activities for younger visitors, alongside recreational areas equipped with table football and classic games.

DJs will perform live every evening, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the event, while prize draws and promotions will reward attendees and encourage participation. Dedicated seating and rest areas will also be available for families and groups of friends.

Positive boost for local tourism and businesses

The initiative is also expected to have a positive impact on local businesses, tourism and hospitality across Huércal-Overa and the wider region.

Mayor Domingo Fernández said the municipality was proud to host the opening event of Ruta Burger 04, adding that occasions like this provide attractive leisure alternatives for residents while encouraging visitors from across the region to discover everything Huércal-Overa has to offer.

The event takes place at the Recinto Ferial de Huércal-Overa from Thursday 4 to Sunday 7 June, running daily from 6pm until midnight.

The annual Lion’s charity Hippie Night was once again a resounding success, cementing itself as one the biggest, funniest and most beloved events. Hippie Night not only lifted the spirits of all who attended, but an impressive €5,000 was raised for local charitable causes.

The popular event brought together residents, visitors, businesses and volunteers for an evening packed with live music, entertainment and fundraising. Held in true hippie style, the venue was transformed into a colourful celebration filled with peace signs, bright decorations and a lively party atmosphere.

Live music and entertainment keep the party going

Guests danced late into the evening to live music from The Funk Federation, while DJ Jude Damien kept the energy high throughout the night.

Participants embraced the fun spirit of the evening dressing up in the full hippie get-up- The room was overflowing with bell bottoms, flower crowns and patterned shirts that should never have made it into the twenty-first century. Their enthusiasm and efforts played a significant role in boosting the final fundraising total.

Hobby horse races were a highlight of the night

One of the highlights of the evening was the ever-popular Hobby Horse Race. Racers trekked down to the beach with their trusty wood-and-felt stead for an exhilarating race, which generated significant sponsorship money and plenty of laughter.

In total, €4,739 was raised throughout the night, with a generous local business subsequently topping up the total to a remarkable €5,000. These funds will go to supporting a wide range local community projects in the area.

Money raised by the Lions will support a wide range of important local causes, including the Special Needs Day Centre, local children’s homes, welfare assistance and food bank deliveries across the area.

Volunteers and local businesses support Mojácar charity event

The success of the 2026 Hippie Night would not have been possible without the hard work of volunteers and ticket sellers, and the generosity of sponsors and local businesses. Many volunteers spent countless hours decorating the venue, transporting equipment and helping behind the scenes. Special recognition also went to Cheryl Trimmings of Me and Mrs. Jones and her mother, who sold more tickets than anyone else.

The evening also served as a tribute to the late Siobhan Tattan, who originally created Hippie Night as a community celebration. Today, the event continues to bring people together while also providing valuable support for local families and individuals in need.

With another successful year completed, many are already calling Hippie Night the best party in Mojácar and eagerly looking forward to next year’s celebration.

Punk-rock enthusiasts will be jumping and head-banging for joy following the recent announcement of the 2026 Rock Albox line-up. Celebrating its 41st edition, Rock Albox has once again pulled out all the stops to make this year’s festival one of the most memorable and unmissable events on the Spanish punk calendar.

Taking place on Saturday October 24 at the Albox fairground in Almería, the long-running festival continues to cement its reputation as one of Andalucía’s leading live music events. Organisers are promising a night packed with raw energy, powerful performances and the rebellious spirit that has defined Rock Albox for more than four decades.

Kaos Urbano and Los de Marras lead the Rock Albox 2026 line-up

Highlights this year include Kaos Urbano, Los de Marras and local favourites La Repolla, offering a strong blend of old-school punk rock and newer acts helping to push the genre forward.

La Repolla will get the party started on October 24. The Albox band will showcase their home-grown talent on one of the region’s biggest stages, delivering fast-paced anthems designed to fire up the crowd from the opening moments.

Kaos Urbano, widely regarded as one of Spain’s most influential street-punk bands, will perform in Albox for the very first time. The Madrid outfit are currently celebrating more than 30 years on the punk scene and arrive in Almería following international tour dates in South America. Fans can expect a varied set packed with classic tracks, crowd favourites and newer material, all delivered with the intensity the group is famous for.

Valencian band Los de Marras are also set to make their Rock Albox debut. Known for their emotional lyrics and distinctive “guajira-rock” sound, the group promise to turn the atmosphere from lively to explosive as thousands of fans sing along throughout the night.

Legendary Spanish punk bands join the festival

The 2026 edition will also feature performances from legendary Spanish punk acts El Último Ke Zierre and Commando 9mm. El Último Ke Zierre, often referred to simply as EUKZ, remain one of the most respected names in Spanish punk and are approaching their 40th anniversary as a band. Meanwhile, Commando 9mm return to Rock Albox after previously delivering some of the festival’s most memorable performances.

Following the success of last year’s 40th anniversary celebration, organisers are hoping to attract more than 2,000 music fans to the Almanzora Valley this autumn. With its combination of established legends, rising acts and local talent, Rock Albox continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the longest-running punk festivals in Spain.
