Donkey Dreamland Mijas Faces Fire Danger

The Donkey Dreamland rescue centre in Mijas is currently facing an urgent and very real fire threat after two blazes broke out nearby during the past two weeks. Heavy winter rains produced exceptional vegetation growth and raised fire risks, despite calls from Mijas mayor Ana Mata for land owners to cut back overgrowth.

Staff at Donkey Dreamland cleared dry material from their own sanctuary land, yet neighbouring plots are still overgrown and are adding to the imminent danger.

Recent close calls behind push for urgent fire defences

Staff have already cleared large amounts of flammable waste and dry vegetation recently while emergency procedures have received upgrades. Even more steps must follow to prepare for summer fire conditions.

GoFundMe funds will deliver practical safety improvements

  • Campaign funds will buy new fire extinguishers and pay for servicing of existing units.
  • Perimeter hoses will protect vulnerable areas while machinery rental finishes vegetation clearance and waste removal.
  • Extra water points will appear around the site.
  • Twelve stables will receive lime paint and disinfection to improve hygiene standards.
  • Volunteers will join fire and evacuation training sessions run with the Fuengirola fire brigade’s support.

But all of this costs money.

Temporary closure reduces income for small rescue team

Some of the required work has forced a temporary closure of the sanctuary to visitors and caused a serious loss of income for the small operation.

Community support still essential to protect Mijas donkeys

Every contribution counts because €2,000 will create real change for this small and much-loved rescue centre. Extra funds will support more prevention measures.

Local residents and animal lovers have supported Donkey Dreamland for years via volunteers and events. This appeal calls on the community to unite again now. Donations will help protect animals that suffered neglect, abuse or abandonment before arriving at the sanctuary. The centre has rescued many local donkeys over recent years with Mijas Council support and volunteer help.

Preparation makes the difference. When the flames arrive, time for action has already run out. The Donkey Dreamland urgently needs its community of supporters more than ever.

Emily Blackwell has shared a glimpse inside her stunning Mallorca wedding celebration, with the Made In Chelsea favourite exchanging vows for a second time in a sun-soaked ceremony surrounded by family, friends and a host of reality TV stars.

The television personality and her husband Jordan Oldershaw had already made their marriage official in London last month, tying the knot at Chelsea Town Hall before hosting a reception at the Corinthia Hotel. But it was their Mallorca celebration that delivered the picture-perfect Mediterranean wedding many fans had been waiting to see.

A dream Mallorca ceremony

Photographs shared by the bride show an elegant ceremony set against the backdrop of a traditional Mallorcan finca. Guests were seated in a courtyard lined with towering cypress trees, vibrant bougainvillea and white floral displays, while a flower-covered arch framed the couple’s vows.

Emily wore a strapless ivory satin gown paired with a matching neck scarf and a long flowing veil, creating a classic bridal look perfectly suited to the island setting. Jordan opted for a light-coloured linen suit and white shirt, embracing the relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere. Their daughter, Eva June, played a starring role as flower girl.

Among the guests were several familiar faces from Made In Chelsea, including Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing, Ruby Adler and fiancé Gavin Rubenstein, Tiffany Watson and husband Cameron McGeehan, and Melissa Tattam.

Partying into the night

The celebrations continued long after sunset. Images shared online showed guests enjoying drinks, dancing beneath the stars and embracing a fun-filled party atmosphere complete with floral leis and novelty sombreros. A towering wedding cake also featured as part of the festivities.

While the exact venue has not been publicly disclosed, the ceremony appears to have taken place at a private luxury finca, reflecting a growing trend among celebrity couples choosing Mallorca for intimate destination weddings.

Mallorca’s celebrity wedding appeal

Blackwell joins a growing list of high-profile names who have chosen Mallorca for milestone celebrations. The island’s luxury estates, historic fincas and spectacular scenery have made it a favourite among celebrities seeking privacy while still enjoying world-class hospitality.

In recent years, alongside many celebrity visits for holidays, Mallorca has welcomed numerous star-studded weddings, reinforcing its reputation as one of Europe’s most sought-after destinations for glamorous celebrations.

For Emily and Jordan, the island provided the perfect setting to celebrate the next chapter of their lives together, surrounded by loved ones, Mediterranean sunshine and unforgettable views.
