Benalmadena road closures: four-month Retamar cut and M-103 bus detours from this week

Published

on

Drivers and bus passengers in Benalmadena will need extra time from now on, after two separate sets of roadworks change how traffic and the urban line move through the town.

Four-month shut-off on Avenida Retamar

Repair work on the well-known Coca Cola wall on Avenida Retamar will keep a stretch of that road closed for about four months. Crews are working from Las Mimosas, just beyond the health centre, down towards Calle Matogrosso.

Genuine residents and authorised loading vans coming in from Avenida Juan Luis Peralta towards Avenida El Chorrillo can still drive through the street. Other drivers should pick another way rather than sit in a queue hoping the cones will move. If you live that way, chances are that you will have to prove it if there any local police officers, so take an addressed letter or a copy of the Padron to show them.

Bus stops by the health centre and at Las Mimosas are being moved for now to Avenida Retamar, level with Calle Matogrosso. Anyone who normally hops on the bus there for Benalmadena Pueblo should check the new poles before they leave home.

M-103 drops three stops and takes a detour

Acosol’s water-supply works add a second change as well. Access from Avenida Antonio Machado onto Avenida de las Palmeras is being blocked, so the regular M-103 itinerary cannot run as it normally would.

Stops at Avenida de las Palmeras, Pueblo Evita and Urbanizacion Pueblo Parque are out of service until that job is complete. Temporary stops will be placed in Los Maites and at the corner of Calle Boulevard and Avenida de Gandhi.

Buses will travel instead along Avenida Federico Garcia Lorca, Avenida del Parque and Avenida Gandhi, then rejoin the usual route at Calle Alborea.

Leave a bit of extra time in the diary, watch the temporary signs and do what local police ask if they are directing traffic. These two jobs are part of months of digging already seen around Retamar and the coast, so a longer school run or a missed connection is easy if you treat old habits as gospel.
