Estepona will get a prehistoric invasion this summer as the world-renowned Dino Expo XXL unrolls its massive exhibition in Estepona. Billed as the world’s most-visited dinosaur exhibition, the touring phenomenon will transform the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos into a roaring, breathing jurassic world from June 27 until September 13, 2026.

What to expect at Dino Expo XXL in Estepona

Spanning a whopping 5,000 square metres, the fully air-conditioned indoor exhibition features around 120 life-size animatronic dinosaurs. Families can walk among towering replicas that move, breathe, and roar, offering a glimpse into a world that vanished millions of years ago.

As an added bonus for history enthusiasts, the event includes a dedicated “Giants of the Ice Age” section. This specialized zone showcases meticulous replicas of prehistoric mammals, including woolly mammoths, cave bears, rhinos, and saber-toothed tigers. The exhibition has already drawn in over 3 million visitors across 250 cities globally.

Essential visitor information, dates, hours, and ticket prices

For those planning a family day out, the exhibition is open daily throughout its summer run. To help visitors avoid the peak afternoon heat, the event operates on a split daily schedule from 10am to 2pm and reopening in the evening from 7pm to 11pm.

An average visit lasts approximately two hours, and the entire venue is fully wheelchair accessible. On-site amenities include a dedicated kids’ zone, a snack bar, and a souvenir shop. Ample surface parking is available directly outside the Palacio de Congresos venue.

Tickets are priced at €12 for adults and €10 for children with toddlers under 24 months able to enter free of charge. Tickets can be purchased directly at the venue box office with no administrative fees, or booked online in advance via the official website Interactive highlights for families and group bookings

The event has several interactive zones designed specifically for younger palaeontologists. Children can get hands-on in dedicated sandboxes to excavate hidden fossils, climb aboard specialized dinosaur replicas for photo opportunities, and interact with digital drawing displays.

Residents and visitors in Calahonda are preparing for a full day of sport, food, and music as the Sitio de Calahonda Urbanisation, managed by the E.U.C., hosts its annual “Día de Sitio de Calahonda” celebration on Saturday, June 27 2026.

Golf tournament kicks off proceedings

The day starts in the morning with a golf tournament at La Siesta Golf Club, beginning with a shotgun start (where all players begin play simultaneously from different holes around the course, rather than teeing off one after another from the first hole) at 9:30am, following a meeting at the club at 8:45am. The competition follows an 18-9 hole individual Stableford format (a scoring system where players earn points based on their score relative to par on each hole, rather than simply counting total strokes, with the highest points total winning), with trophies awarded for male and female winners (1st and 2nd place), as well as closest-to-the-pin prizes for both ladies and gentlemen.

How to register for the La Siesta Golf Tournament

Registration costs €25 for non-members and €15 for La Siesta members, and includes a drink and tapas at the awards ceremony, held afterwards at the club’s driving range. Those interested in taking part can register by calling La Siesta Golf on 952 93 33 62 or Chris on 696 364 323, between 9am and 6pm.

Family fun and children’s games at Parque de Calahonda

In the evening, festivities move into Parque de Calahonda, where a food and drinks bar will open from 7pm with children’s games and competitions, giving families plenty to enjoy.

Live music and Verbena Festival to close out the celebration

The celebration builds toward 9:30pm, when the popular “Verbena” festival begins, featuring live music from well-loved local band “Black Betties”, continuing late into the night.

A fun filled day of sport, culture, and community

Organisers describe the event as a chance to bring together sport, community spirit, and public participation, with this year’s celebration once again offering residents and visitors a mix of sporting, cultural, and leisure activities to enjoy together.

Where to find further information

For golf tournament registration, contact La Siesta Golf on 952 93 33 62 or Chris on 696 364 323. For further details on the wider Día de Sitio de Calahonda celebrations, residents can get in touch with the Sitio de Calahonda E.U.C. (Entidad Urbanística Colaboradora) directly.

La Tienda and Casa Curro, small gems in Marbella Old Town

Published

By

Heading into Marbella Old Town is always a treat. It feels like you’ve been transported to a another world. The little winding streets, full of interesting shops and different bars. The beautiful hanging flowers, it’s as if you’re in somewhere completely different from the coast only 10 minutes walk away. Tucked down one of the smallest lanes sits La Tienda and Casa Curro, 2 small restaurants part of the same group that serve incredible modern Spanish cuisine with a few twists.

Small plates, sharers and favourite dishes

We started off with a very interested dish like nothing I had seen before. Fresh prawns in a bowl of ice with cava and limes. You tweezer out the prawn from the water, peel and eat. With an interesting extra coating of fish eggs, this is a real experience and unique taste. Next up came the scallop cured in tiger milk with coriander oil, a small but delicious smack of flavour with a soft consistency that just melted in your mouth. From then on we shared the tuna tartare with green pepper salad, another tuna tartar served on a shiso leaf, and the roasted artichoke flower, beautifully decorated with a cream sauce and some fried ham and parmesan to give it a salty punch. For the meaty main the sliced beef tenderloin arrived cooked perfectly rare with roasted pepper, Spanish sauce, mashed potatoes and a bowl of crispy hand made fries. All washed down with a delectable bottle of red, crisps house white and finished off with a hot, oozy chocolate fondant and ice cream.

The service is quick and efficient and friendly. They know what they’re talking about. The staff are knowledgeable about their wines, their food and they know that it’s all good.

Two restaurants with different strengths

The two different restaurants sit across the road from each other, both busy and bustling. Casa Curro is more meat-based and has a shop selling their own products. La Tienda is more fish, sushi and has a semi private dining area on offer. It’s not a cheap night out, it’s definitely one for a treat, with the sharing plates at around €40 and the other dishes at €11 each for small tasters, it really is somewhere to go for a celebration.

Ambiance, seating and overall experience

The tables and decor are perfectly fitting with the vibe. Dark moody woods and exposed brick. Huge, beautiful wine glasses with scarily thin stems, table wear rustic with tasteful pops of colour. You can sit at high tables on bar stools dotted around the edge of the restaurant or at the sit up bar to watch the action of the food is being prepared.

Queues of people at the door explains why they have the have a two-hour time limit on your table. It’s more than enough to enjoy the food before heading into the old town for a mooch, shop or drinks elsewhere.

All in all it’s a the perfect spot for a delicious meal in stunning surroundings.

La Tienda and Casa Curro are open everyday from 13:30pm to 12am, located at C. Pantaleon, 5, 29601, Marbella. For bookings visit the website or call 951127251

Malaga CF back in La Liga: Why big economic wins are expected all round for Costa del Sol

Published

By

Promotion of Malaga CF to La Liga is going to change everything in the Costa del Sol, and not just for the fans. New opportunities for growth in tourism and business activity right across the Costa del Sol will be felt with some of the world’s finest football talent playing their away matches in La Rosaleda Stadium.

After 8 long years, the club has finally regained its place in LaLiga with a 2-1 away win against Almeria in the promotion playoff final on Saturday, June 20. The achievement makes the region ripe for increased activity around match days at La Rosaleda Stadium and spreading along the coast.

Economic contribution already strong

KPMG research published earlier in 2026 revealed that Malaga CF accounted for 2.2 per cent of Malaga city’s gross domestic product. This figure outperformed all other professional football clubs. The analysis put the club’s direct economic impact at €40.6 million in sectors such as hospitality, commerce and transport. Fiscal contributions reached €123 million, while the club directly supported 3,461 jobs in the local area. Authors of the report used macroeconomic variables and employment multipliers for their calculations. They expressly excluded tourism spending by visiting fans from outside the city. Analysts predict that these figures will expand now that LaLiga matches have returned to the stadium.

Even at a national level, professional football already makes a huge contribution to the Spanish economy. According to a KPMG study for LaLiga, the sector accounts for 1.44 per cent of Spain’s GDP and supports more than 194,000 jobs.

LaLiga matches are broadcast in over 180 countries. Every home game becomes free global advertising for the Costa del Sol’s sunshine, beaches, golf courses, and lifestyle.

Spending by away fans in the region is expected to increase

Supporters of visiting clubs will travel to Malaga for fixtures against teams such as Real Madrid and Barcelona. Additional expenditure on accommodation, meals and local transport looks likely during these weekend matches. Some fans may extend their visits to include time in Torremolinos, Marbella or other coastal destinations. Malaga Airport recorded 12.4 million passengers last year and can accommodate extra demand from football-related travel. Fixtures against popular clubs often draw large amounts of travelling supporters who fill hotels in the days before and after games.

Stadium upgrade plans support long-term development

Work to expand La Rosaleda from its current 30,000 capacity to approximately 45,000 seats continues with €270 million of investment from public bodies. The project includes a full roof and is hoped to be completed before the 2030 World Cup. There was talk of Malaga dropping the hosting of the World Cup matches in 2030 due to the cost. However, the promotion to LaLiga changes the whole economic environment, and with local elections due in May 2027, the political standpoint in Paco de la Torre‘s office will likely change too.

Improved facilities will serve the highest-ranked games and improve the area for residents and visitors in equal measure. Better infrastructure around the ground will benefit the local community year round.

All-round regional optimism

Fans took to social media immediately after the final whistle. One supporter wrote that the Costa del Sol will be rocking tonight, as noisy celebrations continued well into the small hours all along the Malaga Province. Journalist Guillem Balague posted that Malaga represents a wonderfully kept city and that the club belongs back among the elite with its dedicated supporters. These reactions are but a small slice of the excitement about the positive effects on the wider area from increased visitor numbers and business activity.

Tourism records provide strong foundation

Costa del Sol welcomed 14.47 million visitors during 2024. Economic impact from tourism reached €21.2 billion that year. The addition of regular LaLiga football adds another attraction for both domestic and international travellers. Local hotel and restaurant operators report preparations already underway to handle busier periods once the new season fixture list appears. International markets are continuing to grow in importance for the destination.

Preparation focuses on match-day logistics

Organisers and businesses are now looking at transport links and fan zones to guarantee smooth operations for larger crowds. The return of top-division football revives a tradition that previously brought prestige and activity to Malaga and its surrounding communities. Continued success on the pitch would sustain these advantages over multiple seasons. Coordination between clubs, police and transport providers forms part of advance planning.
