Palma’s coolest creative weekend lands at Aethos: Tattoos, tardeo, jewellery making and more

A new kind of social ritual is taking over Palma this weekend: one that swaps high-energy nightlife for something slower, more tactile and infinitely more personal. Across two days, Aethos Club Palma is hosting a pair of events that blend music, craftsmanship and hand-poked tattooing, drawing a stylish, creatively inclined crowd to its rooftop setting.

Friday: Music, ink and after-work Energy

The weekend begins on Friday May 1 evening from 5pm with a laid-back afterwork gathering that moves seamlessly from music to ink. Designed as a fluid, social experience, the atmosphere leans intimate and unforced: a space where guests can arrive for a drink and stay for something more permanent.

Running from early evening, the event centres around flash tattoos by Barcelona-based artist Indiapia Tats, whose hand-poked technique has become something of a signature. Working without a machine, her process is slower and more deliberate, resulting in fine, minimal designs that feel understated yet deeply personal.

Set against a backdrop of music and a relaxed crowd, the evening captures a shift in Palma’s social scene – one that favours connection and creativity over spectacle. It’s as much about the energy of the room as it is the tattoos themselves.

Saturday: Craft, ink and coastal views

On Saturday, the concept evolves into something softer and more immersive. Taking place during the day, the focus turns to craft and self-expression, with a slower rhythm that encourages guests to linger.

At the centre is The Makers Table with Saona Joies, where participants can design and create their own jewellery pieces – delicate, wearable mementos shaped by hand. Alongside it, Indiapia Tats returns with her hand-poked flash designs, offering a more permanent form of storytelling through skin.

Set on the RAIG rooftop, the experience is elevated by sweeping coastal views, with music and cocktails carrying the atmosphere from afternoon into early evening. The result is something that feels less like an event and more like a curated moment – a gathering defined by mood, light and shared creativity.

Inside Palma’s new members’ club

Hosting both events is Aethos Club Palma, one of the island’s newest private members’ spaces. Positioned as a hub where work, wellbeing and culture intersect, it reflects a growing appetite for community-driven, experience-led venues in Mallorca.

The club is an extension of the Aethos brand, already known for its boutique hotel in Peguera, and brings that same lifestyle-led approach into a more urban, social setting. Expect thoughtfully designed interiors, a curated events calendar and a focus on connection – whether through creative workshops, wellness experiences or intimate gatherings like this weekend’s.

A shift in Mallorca’s social scene

Together, the two events signal a broader shift in how people are choosing to spend their time on the island. Less about late nights, more about meaningful moments; less about excess, more about expression.

From Friday’s music-led tattoo session to Saturday’s slower, craft-focused gathering, Aethos is carving out a new kind of social space in Palma – one where creativity, community and atmosphere take centre stage.

Much-loved creative melting pot Rata Market returns to Andratx for 2026

Mallorca’s much-loved creative market is heading back to the southwest this spring, as Rata Market prepares to take over Andratx for a new 2026 edition. Set for Saturday May 1 and Sunday May 2, the event promises a weekend of design, food and culture — and is fast becoming one of the island’s most anticipated lifestyle gatherings.

A showcase of Mallorca’s creative talent

At its core, Rata Market is about championing local. Since launching in 2015, the concept has grown into one of Mallorca’s leading design markets, bringing together hundreds of artisans, designers and independent brands.

Each edition is carefully curated, with a strong focus on sustainability, originality and craftsmanship. Visitors can expect everything from handmade jewellery and ceramics to fashion, natural cosmetics and art — all created by local or island-based talent.

The aim is simple: to support small businesses while encouraging more conscious, thoughtful shopping. It’s a format that continues to resonate, particularly as consumers increasingly seek out unique, locally made products over mass-produced alternatives.

More than just a market

While shopping is a major draw, Rata Market has evolved into a full cultural experience. Alongside the stalls, the Andratx edition will feature a lively programme of entertainment, including live music, workshops and family-friendly activities.

A dedicated food and drink area will also be central to the event, with food trucks, specialty coffee and sweet treats creating a relaxed, festival-style atmosphere.

This blend of retail and experience is what sets Rata Market apart. It’s not just about buying — it’s about spending time, discovering new creators and connecting with the island’s creative community.

Why Andratx is the perfect setting

Located in the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana, Andratx offers a striking backdrop for the event. Known for its mix of traditional charm and international appeal, the area has become a hub for both locals and visitors seeking a more authentic side of Mallorca.

The open-air setting adds to the appeal, transforming the market into a social, springtime gathering where people can browse, eat and enjoy the atmosphere at their own pace.

Hosting the event here also reflects a broader effort to bring cultural experiences beyond Palma, spreading activity across the island and supporting different local communities.

A growing fixture on Mallorca’s calendar

Over the years, Rata Market has built a loyal following, with multiple editions held across Mallorca — from Palma to smaller towns and cultural venues. Some editions attract thousands of visitors, highlighting the demand for this kind of curated, creative experience.

The Andratx edition is expected to draw a similarly diverse crowd, from residents and families to tourists looking for something beyond the typical beach or restaurant plan.

Why it matters for the island

Events like Rata Market play a key role in shaping Mallorca’s evolving identity. By spotlighting local talent and sustainable production, they help shift the focus towards creativity, craftsmanship and community.

They also support a more year-round economy, encouraging visitors to engage with the island outside peak summer months.

As Mallorca continues to position itself as a cultural and lifestyle destination, Rata Market stands out as a clear example of that direction — a place where design, food and local energy come together in a way that feels both authentic and forward-thinking.

Why this beach restaurant should be top of your Mallorca list right now

The weather in Mallorca has finally done that dramatic, mood-lifting switch. One minute you’re carrying a jacket “just in case,” the next you’re mentally reorganising your entire life around sunshine, sea swims and very long lunches. It’s the unofficial start of the island’s golden season – and naturally, the urgent need for a go-to beach restaurant kicks in.

Enter Bergant… the kind of place that ticks every beach-side box.

The long lunch that turns into dinner

Set right on the water in Playa Del Muro, Bergant nails that elusive balance between relaxed and elevated. It’s effortlessly stylish without feeling try-hard: the sort of place where you can arrive sandy-haired and sun-kissed and feel completely at home.

You go for lunch, obviously. Something light, something quick. And then suddenly it’s late afternoon, the light has softened, another bottle has appeared and you’re deep into that “should we just stay?” territory. The answer is always yes.

The swinging sofa situation

Let’s address what might be Bergant’s most iconic feature: the swinging sofa. Slightly indulgent, completely irresistible, and perfectly positioned for peak lounging. It’s made for that post-lunch lull where everything slows down and the only decision left is whether to swim or order another drink.

It’s also what makes Bergant unexpectedly ideal for families. Kids can roam freely on the sand just steps away, while parents remain firmly planted at the table: rosé in hand,  fully embracing the Mallorca rhythm.

A menu that understands the assignment

The food is exactly what you want from a beachside setting but with enough creativity to keep things interesting.

At Bergant, that starts strong with the starters. Think crispy calamari with citrus mayo, Thai-style mussels with coconut and curry, or grilled octopus served over truffled parmentier: the kind of dishes that immediately signal you’re not in basic beach-bar territory. There’s also a standout tuna tartare served on crispy rice with a hint of spice, and a classic white fish ceviche that feels made for hot afternoons.

Salads lean into that same balance of indulgent and fresh – burrata with a Mallorcan twist of sobrasada and honey, or avocado with sautéed prawns and nut vinaigrette. Light, but not boring.

Then come the mains, where it really delivers. Fresh fish is a big focus – from grilled turbot to tuna tataki with mango chutney or teriyaki-glazed salmon – alongside more relaxed options like fish tacos that feel perfectly on-brand for a beach setting.

If you’re staying longer (you will), the rice dishes are worth committing to: seafood arroz, black rice or even lobster rice for something more indulgent. And for the inevitable “we need one more thing,” there’s always picaña, a truffle burger or a side of perfectly golden fries.

Quality ingredients, bold flavours and plates designed to keep coming.

The atmosphere everyone is chasing

What really sets Bergant apart is the feeling. It manages to be lively without being overwhelming, social without being chaotic. There’s music, there’s a buzz, but time stretches in that slow, sun-drenched way that Mallorca does so well.

It’s a mix of locals, in-the-know visitors and people who clearly planned to stay for “just one hour.” No one ever does.

Bergant captures exactly what makes Mallorca special at this time of year – that effortless blend of natural beauty, good food and even better energy. Lunches with your feet in the sand, laid-back cocktail afternoons, and vibrant nights with live-music.

So yes, the jackets are gone, the beach bags are out, and if you’re planning your summer properly, this is where you start.
