Around 50 cities across Spain held simultaneous demonstrations calling for a general strike after Pedro Sanchez’s housing reforms were blocked.
Hundreds marched to Spain’s parliament in Madrid on Wednesday, blaming the pensioner’s death on her years-long battle against her landlords.
The two decrees were approved by the cabinet on Tuesday, bearing only minor changes compared with the versions voted down last week.
Rioters set bins on fire and built barricades around historic Plaza de Catalunya before pelting police officers with bottles and bricks on Monday.
