Callosa de Segura will restore its urban bus service from Tuesday, September 1, providing residents with connections between neighbourhoods and key locations around the town.

The weekday service will initially operate until November 3, while the council works towards putting a permanent urban transport service out to tender.

Three buses will depart from Los Dolores each day, leaving at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

Daily connections

The routes will connect areas including San Jose, La Monsina and El Palmeral, as well as important destinations such as the Mercado de Abastos, cemetery, IES Santiago Grisolia and Paseo de la Estacion.

The timetable is designed to provide residents with three opportunities during the day to travel between different parts of Callosa de Segura without relying on private transport.

The return of the service will be particularly useful for people needing to reach everyday destinations around the municipality, including the market, educational facilities and other important local services.

Callosa Mayor Juan Antonio Franco said connecting the town’s neighbourhoods would make everyday journeys easier for residents and provide a useful public transport option for people travelling between different parts of Callosa.

Permanent service

The return from September is intended as a first step rather than a short-term solution.

The Town Hall’s next objective is to tender the service on a stable basis, allowing the urban bus to continue operating in the future.

By putting the service out to tender, the council hopes to establish a more permanent arrangement and avoid residents once again losing their local bus connections.

Franco said the council wants to ensure the bus does not disappear again and ultimately provide residents with a reliable permanent service.

September return

For passengers, that process begins on September 1 with the return of three daily weekday connections across Callosa de Segura.

The initial service will continue until November 3, providing a temporary operating period while the Town Hall progresses with its plans for the longer-term tender.

Residents using the service will therefore once again be able to travel between Los Dolores and several neighbourhoods and key destinations around the town during weekdays.

The council’s longer-term aim is for those connections to become a stable part of Callosa de Segura’s public transport network rather than another temporary service.
