Brussels takes action against Spain over failure to update blackout plan

Spain wildfires have burned 300,998 hectares in the first nine months of the year, more than three times the average recorded over the past two decades.
One of the key regions at risk is the Meseta Central, the greater interior plateau of central Spain that holds Madrid, the Spanish capital, at its centre.
Swimmers are being warned against taking a dip at Campo de Golf, Sacaba, Misericordia and San Andres beaches after tests by the city’s municipal water company.
The plant has been a Gibraltar government manifesto pledge since 2011, but two previous attempts to build a plant both collapsed.
