A Jesús David Delgado se le torció el gesto al ver el marcador. La medalla de bronce valió 48,26s, la marca que hizo el turco Ismail Nezir para meterse en el podio por detrás del alemán Emil Agyeku (47,87s) y el noruego Karsten Warlhom, el titán de los 400m vallas, que se quedó a dos centésimas (46,63s, récord de los campeonatos) de su mejor marca del año. El Flaco, como se conoce al canario, terminó sexto, a cuatro décimas de Nezir, lejos de su récord de España, y eso le escoció porque pensaba que las medallas nunca estarían por encima de los 48 segundos.
