Heartfelt farewell as Age Care Ana bids emotional goodbye to Costa del Sol charity

After years of dedicated service, compassionate support, and unwavering friendship, Age Care Costa del Sol is bidding a fond farewell to a cherished team member.

A legacy of compassion and community spirit

Ana, who joined the local charity in 2021 after being introduced by a friend, is stepping down from her role, leaving behind a legacy of deep human connection, practical support, and countless cherished memories across the expat community.

Reflecting on her time with the association, Ana shared her gratitude for the journey with Euro Weekly News:

“My Wonderful Adventure with Age Care Costa del Sol Association. When I joined Age Care in 2021, thanks to a friend, I was immediately made to feel very welcome. I quickly felt that I had found my place and wanted to become fully involved in the association. Over the years, my role has been very varied. I have always tried to do my very best to help the members, find solutions to their problems, support them with their various matters and, sometimes, simply be there to listen to them. But beyond the help I was able to give them, it was above all the human relationships that touched me the most. Over time, some members became much more than people I was helping: they became friends and, in a way, even a little bit like family to me. These relationships, the conversations, the little moments we shared and the many memories are what I will treasure most. This experience has also given me so much personally. It has allowed me to meet some truly wonderful people and reminded me just how much a presence, a listening ear or a helping hand can sometimes make a real difference in someone’s life.”

Tribute to fellow volunteers

Ana also paid tribute to the dedicated team who worked alongside her through both smooth and challenging times, expressing her deepest thanks to everyone who made her journey so special:

“I would also like to thank all my fellow volunteers, who have also become friends, and with whom I have shared these years. We have had many wonderful moments, as well as some more challenging situations. Despite this, we have always shared the same goal: to do our very best to help the members and to be there when they needed us. I will look back on this team with many very happy memories and with great respect for everyone’s work and commitment. I am leaving Age Care with mixed emotions, but above all with a great deal of gratitude. Thank you to the members for their trust, thank you to my colleagues for all the moments we have shared, and thank you to Age Care for giving me the opportunity to experience this wonderful human adventure. It is with a heavy heart that I leave, but I will carry with me all these encounters and all these friendships which, ultimately, are the most precious part of this story.
Sending all a very big hug.
Ana”

An outpouring of gratitude from the community

News of Ana’s step down saw messages of warmth and affection from local residents, with members taking to social media to share just how deeply she will be missed. Many sent heartfelt messages thanking her for the guidance, kindness, and personal support she provided to them and their families over the years, with one member noting how grateful they were for “everything you have done to help me and my dad.” Others expressed their sadness at losing such a vital source of help, while warmly wishing her the best for her future outside the club and reminding her not to leave it too long before popping back into Oasis to join them for lunch.

Ana leaves Age Care Costa del Sol with the utmost respect of her colleagues and the sincere thanks of a community that will miss her presence dearly.
