A popular market celebrating local produce, traditional food and handmade crafts is set to return to Javea on the final Saturday of the month, October 31, offering residents and visitors the chance to discover products unique to the Marina Alta region.

Discover local flavours from the Marina Alta at the monthly market

The Mercat d’Origen de la Marina Alta, or Marina Alta Origin Market, takes place at the historic Riurau d’Arnauda in Javea. The open-air market brings together local producers, food vendors and artisans, with a focus on supporting the area’s agricultural traditions, fresh products and independent makers.

Fresh produce and traditional specialities

Visitors can browse a selection of locally produced goods, including fresh fruit and vegetables, honey, olive oil, wine and traditional baked products. The market offers an opportunity to meet producers and discover ingredients and specialities from the surrounding countryside. The event also encourages shoppers to support regional businesses and enjoy produce that reflects the area’s Mediterranean landscape and food culture.

Whether looking for fresh ingredients for the week ahead, regional delicacies or something different to take home, visitors can explore the stalls at their own pace and discover what local vendors have to offer.

Artisan crafts, live music and family activities

Alongside the food stalls, the market features handmade crafts and artisan products, providing an opportunity to find unique gifts and locally made items. Live music and family activities will also be offered at the event. The combination of food, crafts and entertainment makes the event suitable for a leisurely Saturday morning outing.

When and where to enjoy this charming Marina Alta local market

The market will be held on Halloween day at the Riurau d’Arnauda, a traditional agricultural building that provides a historic setting for the monthly gathering. During the winter schedule, the market generally runs from 9:30am until 2:00pm.

With local food, artisan goods, music and family activities, the Marina Alta Origin Market offers an opportunity to experience the region’s produce and creativity while supporting local businesses.

Residents and visitors in Javea are being encouraged to put on their walking shoes and support cancer research at the sixth annual Walk Against Cancer Javea on Sunday, October 25. Organised by the local branch of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, or AECC, the charity walk will bring the community together to raise funds for research and show solidarity with people affected by the disease.

Javea charity walk returns for its sixth edition: A 5.5km route supporting cancer research

The non-competitive event will start at 10:00am from Avenida Rey Jaime I, in the port area of Javea, with participants completing a 5.5-kilometre route before finally returning to the starting point. The event is open to anyone capable of completing the route, making it an opportunity for people of all ages and fitness levels to take part in.

Unlike a competitive race, there will be no official timing or classification. The focus is instead on participation, fundraising and raising awareness of cancer and its impact on local neighbours and their families.

How to participate in the Walk Against Cancer Javea

Those who want to participate in the walk can register at somesport.com. Entry will cost €7 per person and includes a race number and commemorative T-shirt, and all proceeds from the event will go towards the AECC. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult who is also registered for the walk.

The event is organised by the AECC’s Javea branch, with support from Javea Town Council and local water company Amjasa.

A fun and active way to support neighbours battling cancer

The initiative offers residents an opportunity to enjoy an active morning while contributing to a cause that is close to the community. Bringing people together through a simple, but powerful community walk, the organisers hope to encourage solidarity with those affected by cancer and support continued research into the disease.
